Christmas Lights

One Christmas tradition that home and businesses all over the world still participate in is the annual Christmas light show. To the delight (or chagrin) of viewers, Christmas light displays brighten store windows and dance around house roofs and porches. These sometimes crazy Christmas lights cost anywhere from five dollars all the way up to over a thousand dollars for a wild home display.

Customers used to chose between limited varieties of Christmas tree lights. One might find a string of lights in multi colors, one solid color, and occasionally a blinking Christmas light. The Christmas light shows of today incorporate animated Christmas lights, Christmas bubble lights and even, Christmas lights to music.

Mars Incorporated, the candy makers who created M&Ms, jumped on the Christmas franchise bandwagon and added M&M Christmas Lights to their growing list of M&M collector's products. These lights go fast in stores and online. Occasionally, collectors find them on auction sites, such as eBay.

Homeowners thinking about adding a Christmas light display to their house or apartment might want to pick up a Christmas lights video on safety. Though be forewarned, adding too many lights not only eats up energy bills, but also can cause a fire. Be sure to buy a Christmas light tester too. It will save a lot of frustration when nothing lights up and only one bulb is to blame.

For those who want to take the safe route, or simply want to dress up their computer monitors, a few online sites offer downloads of computer Christmas lights. Other websites put on their own displays for anyone unable to get out of the house to view real life shows. One such site is, strangely enough, Computer Christmas Lights (computerchristmaslights.com).

One of Arizona's most viewed displays is the Arizona Christmas lights display in the Mesa Temple. Each state in the United States knows exactly where find their biggest Christmas light display. Zoo Lights is Memphis' biggest light display and features over one million bulbs. New York City holds a large light display just on the giant tree they bring in, let alone all the buildings and shops along the way.

Lights are only one way homeowners decorate their homes and yards for Christmas. Plastic deer, animated Santa Claus and sleighs, life sized blow up snow globes and wooden elves help add to the Christmas atmosphere. When that year's display is through, enthusiasts find plenty of photos posted online of their favorite Christmas light display.
