Latest Christmas Trends

Every seller industry from jewelry designers, to fashion retailers, to toy makers look and prepare for the latest Christmas trends to offer their potential buyers. Magazines, newspapers, TV and radio ads and the internet all offer both the seller and consumer ways to discover the latest fad.

Christmas trends can be anything from new Christmas tree lightings for the home to a brand new heart shaped diamond ring for a wife or girlfriend.

In 2005, one of the fads reported centered around Christmas trees. Purchasing a fake, realistic looking tree seemed more preferable than cutting down a live tree. Prelit and pre-decorated trees were also made available. Some consumers even went for the "flipped trees" offered at that time. These fake trees hung upside down from ceilings as a way to keep the clutter down and leave more room for presents, but they cost a lot more than a normal faux tree.

Gifts of education and cold hard cash rank high on the list. More people find it more appealing to buy what they want while bettering oneself and less appealing to receive knick-knacks and toys that take up much needed space.

These days more and more people want to express their own creativity. They do so either buy buying unusual items, one of a kind items, creating their own decorations, or a mixture of all these.

Because buyers want quality, choice and convenience, many do the majority of their shopping on the world wide web. Retailers know this and offer special sales and benefits to members.

Handmade items enjoy another year of popularity. Privately owned online shops, international online auctions and gathering places offer a variety of handmade gifts and clothing for the consumer desiring something unusual or one of a kind. Trends this year include handmade quilts, garden signs, aprons, children's clothing, and handmade lotions.

The color trend for the coming Christmas season focuses on blues, yellows and white. Yellow creates warmth and images of the desert sun. This is what designers want their customers to think of when buying in shades of yellow, orange, sand and amber. White brings in the romantic touch whether combined with yellows for visions of warmth, or with blues for the winter minded. Blue is a natural color for the winter months and shows up in draperies, pottery, cotton and linen wares.

Hot toys this year include Spiderman 3, Shrek 3, Disney Princess collections and much more.
